Fore First Round Storylines from The Masters

DJ with a WD

With Dustin coming into this tournament hotter than he’s ever been, it really is “Sad!” that we don’t get to see if he could continue this Tiger esque run. The worst part about his injury is that he said he feels as though he’ll be able to play in a couple days, but for now it’s just not possible.

Wind was BLOWING at Augusta today

As if Augusta National wasn’t difficult enough, lets just add wind gusts of 15-25 MPH all day! Not only did the wind make players play shots they weren’t accustomed to making here, but on the greens you could tell it made putting a billion times harder. Some players like Adam Scott were calling the conditions ‘borderline’ unplayable, while others, like Phil, said “I love it”, feeling as though he has an advantage over unexperienced players who don’t know the intricacies of the course.

Personally, I love these conditions (for Thursday and Friday). Once the weekend comes around, and you weed out the weak, the leaderboard should be pretty tight creating a drama filled weekend of golf. I’m pumped!

Pieters lets Amen Corner get the best of him

Speaking of those inexperienced players Phil was talking about, lets talk about Thomas Pieters, Masters rookie, who at one point held a 3 stroke lead at 5-under. That is until he let the wind, and his first trip around Amen Corner get to him.

As my dark horse at +6500, sitting at even par after his first round he should be very content with his position after his first round at The Masters.

Charley Hoffman Finishes on Fire!

From the clouds, Charley Hoffman decides to birdie 5 of his last 7 holes in route to taking a 4 stroke lead heading into the second round. With the wind howling again tomorrow, Hoffman has to be glad he has created a pretty big cushion between him and the rest of the field. Tomorrow should be fun!

I present to you your first round leader of the 2017 Masters, Charley Hoffman…
